First Two Weeks of Bees
May 27, 2017: Installation.
- Max Matson from Indiana came with a top bar nuc.
- Installed 8 bars, and added one empty one in the brood nest

- Bees are building comb on empty rapidly
New White Comb
June 2, 2107
First Inspection! Used smoke and veil, but bees were very well behaved. New comb really drawn out. Added one empty at end of brood nest and one more between partially drawn combs in the storage area
My First Inspection
Bar Makeup Prior: B/P, B, B (was the empty), B, B, B, B (smaller), N, E
Bar Makeup After: B/P, B, B, B, B, B, B, E, N, E, N. Two N bars basically empty of nectar, seems that it was available where bees came from in IN, but not here.
June 4, 2017
- Hive most active in 3-5PM time
- More activity on nectar /honey bar
- No activity on new bars
- Combs are noticeably larger
- Made a bar holder for inspections
