July 15, 2017 Inspection


  • All looked good, checked all the way to the end of the brood.  Saw a lot of capped brood, no larvae or eggs that I could tell, but I never go far enough in.  Too scared I guess of upsetting something.
  • Got a little piece of honeycomb out that was protruding.  Tasted great.

Bees are doing well

First orientation flights happened 1.5 weeks ago.  Colony is large, and building quite a bit of comb. Hope they have enough nectar.  The small yellow flowers around the lake seem pretty abundant right now. These bees seem slightly larger than last year's.  Not sure if that's possible.
