Not Much To Inspect


  • Tried out the observation hive, and in the process didn't look more than 3 bars in.  I am probably too cautious and should see what's going on.  But they seem well and I don't want to disturb them!
  • Tried initially w/o smoke, a few of the ladies were out instantly and not seeming happy.  One looks like it stung something, guys were hanging out the back end.  Not sure what though.

Bees are doing well

First orientation flights happened 1.5 weeks ago.  Colony is large, and building quite a bit of comb. Hope they have enough nectar.  The small yellow flowers around the lake seem pretty abundant right now. These bees seem slightly larger than last year's.  Not sure if that's possible.
