Drones Being Kicked Out
I think as of yesterday, saw many drones at the entrance, and many being wrestled to the ground by multiple workers. At least that's what it seemed like. So apparently something has told them that it's time to kick them out. Shorter days? Cooler nights? Lack of forage? Not sure.
Not Much To Inspect
Tried out the observation hive, and in the process didn't look more than 3 bars in. I am probably too cautious and should see what's going on. But they seem well and I don't want to disturb them! Tried initially w/o smoke, a few of the ladies were out instantly and not seeming happy. One looks like it stung something, guys were hanging out the back end. Not sure what though.
Made A Bee Escape
Made an 8-way bee escape for when I try to harvest honey. Just wanted to see if it works vs. brushing the bees off a comb. Wanted to take a bar of honey but only about 3/4 capped on last bar. Rest totally filled with nectar, and heavy. Have not added any bars for a couple weeks.
